A Day of Thanksgiving 2009

Today, we were able to spend a quiet Thanksgiving day at home. It is the first time that we have actually had a turkey day without family or friends. We didn't really plan it that way. We intended on at least having friends or members from the ward over- but everyone we asked was either spending their holiday with family or friends. So I went ahead and planned the day as if we were planning on having someone special over for dinner. Maybe that's why I made more mashed potatoes than were needed. At any rate- the table was beautiful, and the people at our table were perfect- it was like having the royal court over. Matai didn't like the food so much, but he didn't complain about it- very gracious. Taima enjoyed the butter knife that we let him use on this special day. Sai enjoyed the whole day- now that he fully understands what Thanksgiving is- everything really clicked in his history lessons at shchool this year about the pilgrims, and Macy's day parade... so during our whole thanksgiving meal, he listed off everything he could think of that he was grateful for. Loved it. Paki and I realized that this was a special gift to have a Thanksgiving Day with just our family; with Paki getting into Football coaching- who knows what kind of schedule may occur for Future Holidays. We have been blessed so much this year, it is overwhelming and uplifting to us. But more than anything we as a family unanimously agreed that we are all thankful for our Heavenly Father who answers our prayers, for our savior Jesus Christ who lives and we love him, for the Holy Ghost who has brought us much peace in our turbulent year, and for each other as a family- we have become a much stronger family.

Fun pictures! Can't tell your a photographer or anything. Loving the knife action going on - must be a boy thing. Loving that your husband is finally coaching.

What a beautiful thing to write about. We all have so much to be grateful for when we have the gospel in our lives! By the way, Taima will have to have a cutting board when cutting on grandma's table!
